Kanako Tanimoto
Kanako Tanimoto was born in Wakayama, Japan.She studied abroad in Germany on two separate occasions while attending Japanese high school and university. After graduating from Ritsumeikan university in Kyoto, she joined Recruit Co., Ltd. where she engaged in restaurant consulting & marketing for 8 years. In 2012, she launched "Schatz", an imported jewelry shop with the desire to encourage Japanese women to foster their individuality. Kanako moved to the Netherlands in 2016.The following year, she opened "Don-Kounosuke", an izakaya-style restaurant based around the Japanese rice bowl dish, with the concept of "an authentic Japanese restaurant abroad, that can be enjoyed on a daily basis". Two months after the opening, it was selected as Restaurant of the Year by the local newspaper Frisse Mosterd. Don-Kounosuke has been published in the gourmet guide Gault et Millau every year since its opening, and has been featured in many other magazines such as VOGUE, ELLE, and LINDA. In 2020, a second restaurant, "Japanese Udon dining Kakunosuke", was opened. There, Kanako stands as Okami, the hostess, in kimono.Currently, Kanako is preparing a collaboration product between an indigo dyer from Tokushima prefecture.Working in a wide range of industries including fashion and restaurants, Kanako engages in activities that cultivate exotic passion across the sea…
